I like this post, and especially your analysis of the ingroup/outgroup thing.  I&#039;ve found that learning to be alone has helped me become more more deliberate about how I engage in group activities.  Group psychology, by the way, is fascinating.

What a well written, thought provoking post.

Isn&#039;t it funny how that &quot;group&quot; effect extends into blogging.  We have social networks of communities and groups of friends, Stumbling and Digging favorite articles, and encouraging others to follow our lead.  Some will brag how John Chow rated their blog, while others stay clear of the A List bloggers, and create their own network of like minded bloggers.  

And yes, as much as some don&#039;t want to admit it, we all want that sense of belonging.
