In the US, we do have a social convention of being &quot;fashionably late&quot; for parties and things like that, but I suppose that really depends on the size of the party. 

In a large party, the host(s) wouldn&#039;t really mind if a guest were late. But with a small party, I&#039;m sure a late guest would soon be left off the invite list.</description>

Here in Mauritius we&#039;ve inherited the &quot;indian time&quot; culture, where lateness is routine. But things are changing nowadays with the fast pace of development.
